    The anticipated salary range for this role is between $155,000.00 and $196,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

    SUMMARY:

    This position sits within SMBC MANUBANK's Financial Crimes Compliance (FCC) which is part of the larger Compliance Department. The FCC department is responsible for developing the Bank's BSA/AML, Sanctions, and Fraud Programs to ensure that the bank achieves optimal compliance with all related laws and regulations. We are seeking an experienced and talented VP, Jenius FIU Manager, to lead the Jenius FIU team for the digital banking unit. As the FIU Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the FIU team responsible for reviewing customer transactions, ensuring compliance with regulations, identifying, and reporting suspicious activity, and filing appropriate reports with regulatory bodies.

    Reporting to the Director, Head of Financial Intelligence Unit ("FIU"), the VP, Jenius FIU Manger will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Jenius Bank FIU team within our organization. This individual must have specialized knowledge related to retail banking risks and will be responsible for adherence to bank policies and procedures related to the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Program, and USA PATRIOT Act requirements.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide leadership and guidance to the Jenius FIU team, ensuring effective collaboration and coordination of efforts with the commercial banking FIU team.

    • Enforce policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulators, and industry standards.

    • Maintain and update FIU procedures as the Jenius customer base grows and new products are offered.

    • Serve as a subject matter expert on investigations, suspicious activity reports (SARs), Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), and alert management in discussions with management, internal audit, and external stakeholders.

    • Oversee the investigation and analysis of suspicious financial activities, transactions, and patterns as well as associated regulatory reporting (SARs, CTRs, etc.)

    • Assist in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies to minimize exposure to financial crime risks.

    • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to gather and analyze intelligence related to financial crimes.

    • Prepare and present regular reports on the Jenius FIU's activities, findings, and recommendations to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

    • Deliver training to the Jenius FIU team to ensure in-depth understanding of financial crime risks among FIU staff.

    • Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct throughout the organization.

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including compliance, legal, risk management, fraud, and IT to advance the FIUs strategic goals.

    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with FCC management team, internal audit, and compliance monitoring and testing, fostering open communication and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.

    • Keep abreast of changes in regulatory requirements and evolving trends in financial crime to adapt the organization's practices accordingly.

    • Maintain proficient knowledge of the rules and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, FFIEC Manual, and evolving banking landscape.

    POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

    • Extensive experience (5+ years) in financial crimes compliance, anti-money laundering (AML), and/or counter-terrorist financing (CFT) roles;

    • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field;

    • Professional certifications such as CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or CFCS (Certified Financial Crime Specialist), or CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), preferred.

    • Experience with FIS Prime and/or Actimize a plus;

    • Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Office suite;

    • In-depth knowledge and experience with the US PATRIOT Act, BSA Act and the FFIEC AML Manual;

    • Ability to excel in a remote, innovative, and fast-paced environment;

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal teams, regulators and external stakeholder;

    • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, concise manner to senior leaders.
