  • Our Construction/Engineering Client in Concord, ON is looking to add a Financial Controller to their team. This role requires to be in the office 5 days a week with some reasonable accommodation provided.

    Description

    • Manage a team of department leaders under the accounting services

    • Act as a financial business partner/advisor to the leadership team including senior management

    • Manage all activities through the various cross-functioning departments, treasury management, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general accounting, compliance, and projects

    • Provides oversight to the accounting service team to deliver accurate and timely financial data on which to base planning, forecasting,

    budget rollouts, performance evaluation and operating decisions and oversees the payroll cycle

    • Cash monitoring, organize fund transfers, cash reporting and forecasting to senior management team

    • Review and approve salaried payroll, approve calculations and release payments for union dues, payroll taxes, EHT, WSIB etc., review and approve year-end processes including T4's

    • Implement internal control systems, operational procedures, and reporting systems to mitigate financial risks and support the growth of the business

    • Monitor and review AR aging, debts, AR subledger, investigate and follow up on aged AR

    • Review and approve payment proposals, upload/release EFT files to bank, approve wire transactions

    • Responsible for corporate tax return - will work directly with third party accounting firm

    • Manage and review tax audits, inquiries, payments, T5018 preparation and submission

    • Review balance sheet and track resolution of errors, reconcile and review, complete tax filings, GST/HST/PST/QST filings, payroll tax filing, post journal entries, bad debts, year end, audit, and tax adjustments

    • Ensure adherence to accounting and control practices and procedures, policies, safeguarding of assets, all while ensuring governance and the effective cost-efficient use of financial resources

    • Manage and lead financial performance reporting and analysis with accurate and timely information to the business

    • Manage and provide expertise on finance matters, supporting new processes and continuous improvement within the business

    The successful candidate will possess a strong accounting background within IFRS and/or ASPE, is extremely detailed and organized and is able to manage/develop/coach/mentor a team of 3 to 5 people. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who will not shy away from challenges.

    CPA is a strong asset; D365 experience also considered an asset but not a must have.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $180000.00
