Facility Specialist IV - Hoisting & Rigging

The Facility Specialist job family is responsible for all activities relating to facility support and maintenance associated with plant equipment and systems. The Facility Specialist will be directly responsible for supporting, planning, and coordinating operations and maintenance activities associated with assigned plant equipment and systems. This position will include supporting all operations efforts for the facility.

This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

• Develop/Maintain equipment maintenance files including service status, equipment history, and corrective maintenance needs for assigned Plant Equipment.

• Lead coordination with Facility Management and support organizations for system outage(s)

• Field oversight of maintenance activities on assigned system(s)/equipment, providing opportunities for improvement/increased efficiency, and providing support to resolve resource limitations/barriers.

• Provide support to engineering, maintenance, and support organization to advance document development and execution of servicing and maintenance of assigned equipment.

• Represent Mechanical Handling for interfaces with other project organizations on issues affecting operations.

• Responsible for daily/weekly status to Facility Management of planned scope to ensure Facility configuration will support planned work, resolving conflicts between regulatory requirements and Facility support capabilities

• Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.

• Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

• Perform activities and meet the goals and objectives established by the facility management organization

• Support control of fieldwork in assigned areas, including integration of project activities, repairs, and equipment operations activities.

• Review Project design and other documents for, maintenance and testing impacts, repair methods and provide comments within area of expertise.

• Review system operating manuals, emergency response procedures, and other operational documents and ensure that they can be effectively implemented by operating staff.

• Develop facility related procedures, work instructions and training materials and support training implementation

• Identify deficiencies and initiate corrective actions as needed.

• Ensuring the standards set by the conduct of operations procedures are upheld in the planning and performance of all facility activities

• Support implementation of project wide initiatives affecting plant operations personnel and resources.

• Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May supervise assigned personnel, and includes assigning complex work, setting work priorities, and evaluating and training staff.

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Education: Preferred candidate will have an associate degree in engineering or science or equivalent education desired. Associate degree in engineering or science may be substituted for two years of experience.

Experience:

8 years of professional experience in the areas of/or a combination of startup/ operations/maintenance of nuclear or high hazard waste treatment facilities. A working knowledge and operation of remote/field/control room systems such as mechanical systems, pumps and fluid systems, electrical systems, cranes and hoists, process jumpers, remote waste handling equipment, power manipulators, and instrumentations, lifting hardware, etc. and associated inspection requirements.

Preferred Experience:

Knowledge of DOE operating policies, rules and regulations, and knowledge of industry codes and standards in the area of expertise desired.

A working knowledge of conduct of operations (DOE O 422.1) and ASME B30 Hoisting and Rigging maintenance and operating requirements implementation highly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship

Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site .

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $112,835.92 - $178,251.96 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
