The Specialist, External Communications serves as the primary social media resource in CT for the External Communications team.
This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.
Responsibilities
- Support with developing and managing the social media content calendar for Connecticut
- Coordinate closely with business partners and other external facing teams across the organization like Community Relations to develop broad messaging strategies to help ensure alignment while advancing key corporate initiatives and goals
- Collaborate with business partners across the company to produce engaging and educational content for the company's social media channels, including blog posts and videos
- Generate content ideas based on current social media trends and strategic company priorities
- Monitor social media channels
- Identifies and develops story opportunities for both social and traditional media to help advance Eversource's strategic priorities
- Occasionally responds to incoming inquiries from media, serving as a company spokesperson in on-camera television, radio and print news interviews, as needed, including during storm restoration and emergencies
- Travel to support company events
- Assist with storm/emergency communications and other daily media relations functions, as needed
Qualifications
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Strong knowledge of all social media platforms and corporate applications, specifically Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Strong written communication and public speaking skills, including the ability to effectively inform, educate and influence widely varying audiences
- Strong knowledge of remote access tools for social media channels
- Knowledge of social media editing tools and policies
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate across multiple departments
- Ability to think and act strategically in a fast-paced environment with frequently shifting and/or conflicting priorities
- Ability and willingness to work with a sense of urgency and drive business results
- Analytical skills including the ability to draw sound conclusions and act decisively
- Strong customer service orientation
- Possesses a high degree of personal ownership and accountability
- Sound judgment and analytical skills
- Ability and willingness to work with integrity and maintain high ethics
- Desire and flexibility to engage during all storms and emergency situations
- Fluency in a second language preferred
Education:
- A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or a closely related discipline is required or equivalent experience
Experience
- Three (3) plus years related experience in a corporate-communications and/or an agency environment is preferred
- Experience in planning, writing, coordinating, and executing a variety of internal and external communications is preferred
Compensation and Benefits:
- Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $89,000 - $99,000 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits
