    Full Time,Day Shift M-F 7a-3:30pm

    The Medical Assistant will provide basic nursing care to patients with additional technical competencies under the direct supervision of the licensed nurse. Attends nursing station and performs clerical and reception duties. Requisition supplies, equipment, and services asdirected.

    Requirements:

    • 1-3 years' experience

    • Medical Tech Registration

    • BCLS within 30 days of hire

    Major Responsibilities:

    1. Performs all clerical duties to include accurate and timely patient care documentation.Transcribes physician orders, maintains record integrity.Performs clerical duties relating to admission, discharge and transfer. Maintains department records, reports and files.

    2. Requisitions supplies, equipment, maintenance and repairs.Keeps stock inventory and expiration list.Determines the proper functioning of medical equipment to assure patient safety.Responsible for cleaning of all instruments following EH policies.Works with Central Sterile Supply to troubleshoot any issues.

    3. Responsible for updating clinical staff on all changes to equipment, lab requisitions and specimen handling.

    4. Provides personal care to patients.Assists with procedures including office hysteroscopy, endometrial biopsy, and post-op exams, maintaining aseptic technique.Performs phlebotomy when indicated.Ensures specimens are sent to Exeter Hospital's lab or appropriate external lab according to test/s ordered by a physician, and labeled following Exeter Hospital's policy.Maintains lab/testing log to track results/reports.

    5. Enters charges and runs billing reports.

    6. Performs accurate and timely documentation of patient care information in the correct patient chart.Participates in the development of patient care plans with the nursing team.

    7. Obtains pre-certification and schedules office, diagnostic and surgical procedures.Works with other hospitals and staff to schedule additional testing ordered by the physician.

    8. Organizes and coordinates providers' clinical correspondence, including all dictation to referring providers, to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the documents and timely distribution.

    9. Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospitalstandards, including assurance and support of patient rights and responsibilities.

    10. Follows established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement programs, safety/environment of care programs and infection control standards.
