  • Job Summary

    The Executive Director of the Blake Center for Faith and Freedom will design, manage, and supervise all efforts and programs at the Center. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on involvement, and the ability to communicate effectively with both external and internal constituents. The Executive Director must be committed to the mission of Hillsdale College and be an articulate spokesperson for the Center and the College.

    Essential Job Functions

    Leadership and Management:
    1. Exhibit excellent leadership and management skills.
    1. Demonstrate success in setting and achieving organizational objectives.
    1. Manage all properties associated with the Blake Center, including coordinating with legal counsel to obtain proper permitting for events and property changes.
    1. Plan and carry out seminars, lectures, trainings, conferences, and other outreach efforts.
    1. Ensure the Center is properly run under the vision, objectives, and governance of the President of Hillsdale College.
    1. Serve as emcee at many of the events hosted at the Center.
    Operations:
    1. Recruit, select, train, develop, and supervise Blake Center staff, interns, and students.
    1. Identify, vet, and hire local third parties as necessary for consulting and other needed services.
    1. Assist in maintaining the progress, construction, and design of Hillsdale's property.
    1. Maintain and initiate service contracts.
    1. Manage budgets and assist in reconciliation of expenses.
    1. Oversee the scheduling of Blake Center events and provide regular reports to Hillsdale leadership.
    1. Work with colleagues to provide and organize information, infrastructure, equipment, services, and support for the Center's activities.
    1. Assist Hillsdale College faculty, staff, and students with program logistics and resources at the Center.
    1. Participate in strategic planning for the Center in coordination with senior staff.
    1. Ensure facilities, personnel, and visitors are safe and secure.
    1. Coordinate overnight accommodations for guests.
    1. Manage correspondence and maintain a work order and preventative maintenance activity dashboard.
    1. Maintain consistent contact with Administrative Affairs regarding the activities and needs of the Center.
    1. Help with custodial, grounds, building, and other responsibilities as needed.
    Outreach:
    1. Develop a marketing strategy and publications schedule specific to the Center.
    1. Assist with writing and editing public materials about the Center's activities.
    1. Cultivate positive relationships in the community of Somers and with prospective parents, current parents, and alumni in the region.
    1. Make fundraising calls and complete donor call reports.
    1. Attend NLS and other outreach events to present the goals and activities of the Center.
    1. Assist the Alumni Office with the development and maintenance of a healthy East Coast alumni network.
    Other Duties:
    1. Coordinate and assist with any educational offerings.
    1. Promote Hillsdale College to regional prospective undergraduate and graduate students and their parents.
    1. Develop professional relationships with local pastors and clergy to provide lectures, prayers, and chapel services for various educational programs.


    Education and Experience

    This position requires an advanced degree in a relevant area with 5 7 years of prior experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job. Ordination in the Christian faith and/or theological training is preferred.
