    The Job You Will Perform:

    The Mansfield Mill is a complex, fully integrated pulp and paper manufacturing facility. The mill includes multiple process lines of wood handling, pulping, paper machines, power and recovery boilers, and effluent treatment. The environmental engineer assists with managing day-to-day and some long-term activities for the mill's Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), air compliance program, solid and hazardous waste programs, potable water system, chemicals in transportation program, and landfill operation. The position has responsibility for supervising various contractors, works within the EHS&S group and reports to the Environmental Manager.

    Key Responsibilities:

    The Environmental Engineer's duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with the Environmental Team to:

    1. Serve as technical expert to for Environmental compliance by providing regulatory guidance to mill operations, maintenance, and management on a day-to-day or as needed basis.

    2. Manage and compile environmental compliance reports and permit renewals for the following permits: NPDES Permit, Title V Air Permit, Solid Waste Handling Permits and Potable Water Permit. Serve as process owner of the environmental testing.

    3. Drive continuous and deliberate improvements including system development to ensure environmental compliance and prevent potential problems.

    4. Support operating teams navigating regulatory concerns, update environmental procedures and provide necessary compliance training to salaried and hourly teams.

    5. Provide support during development and implementation of regulatory compliance projects and programs.

    6. Implement systems and processes to improve/sustain results for mill EMS systems.

    7. Manage the mill's hazardous waste, universal waste, SPCC plan, and recycling programs

    8. Serves as liaison between the organization on and regulatory agencies concerned with environmental control.

    9. Serve on Environmental, Health & Safety weekend rotation team.

    Required Experience

    Two plus years of environmental management or related experience in a manufacturing environment recommended, pulp and paper industry preferred. Experience in practical application of environmental regulations required.

    This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Environmental sciences, or related field. The candidate must be experienced using a computer, and skilled in word processing, database systems, and SAP business systems. Plant application and PI ProcessBook experience preferred.
