    The Boeing Company is seeking an Entry-Level Propulsion Thermal Engineer to support Boeing Commercial Airplanes in North Charleston, SC .

    This position is on the Thermal Team at Propulsion South Carolina (PSC). You will be joining a team that performs thermal analysis on engine nacelle components. Nacelles surround and hold aircraft engines and they are made up of inlets, fan cowls, thrust reversers and exhaust nozzles. At PSC, we design, build, and/or support 737MAX, 787, 777X and B-52 nacelles. Your role will be to analyze input from various other engineering groups including flight test, engine companies, and other Boeing internal groups and to communicate to downstream loads and stress analysts about the temperature and pressure extremes the nacelles will experience. To do this work you will use thermal analysis software and explain the results to other engineers. Your work will directly affect the success and quality of our products for the life of the airplanes we are building.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Supports definition of requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and vehicle fuel and tank systems.

    • Assists to define, coordinate and control the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle.

    • Assists in developing specifications for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

    • Documents configurations and designs of propulsion sub-systems and components.

    • Assists in using various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance.

    • Assists in the performance of certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components.

    • Assists in supporting fielded systems to assure continued reliability and airworthiness.

    • Supports development of concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements.

    • Works under close supervision.

    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

    • Experience in thermodynamics, heat transfer, or fluid mechanics

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • Experience with thermal analysis software or computational fluid dynamics software platform(s), experience with Python coding

    Typical Education/ Experience:

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Summary Pay Range: $64,600- $87,400
