Union Tank Car Company ("UTLX") manufactures, leases, and repairs railcars in North America for railroads and industrial companies that ship by rail. With roots dating back over 125 years to Standard Oil Co. and John D. Rockefeller, UTLX, along with Canadian affiliate Procor, owns and leases a diversified portfolio of approximately 120K tank cars and 10K freight cars, operates two-tank car manufacturing facilities as well as a network of more than 110 full-service and mini/mobile repair shops. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Engineering summer internship will consist of meaningful business projects and on-the-job mentorship from our Plant/Product Engineering and Quality Engineering teams over the duration of 10-11 weeks. These positions will concentrate on capital projects within our shop locations, as well as, advancing technical programs in our product and quality engineering groups.

The Supply Chain Internship is an hourly non-exempt role and would be paid at $22 per hour - $27 per hour. Due to the short-term nature of this internship, the intern will not be eligible for any company-provided benefits or paid vacation time customarily offered to full-time, long-term employees.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work in the Houston, TX area.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organization and time management skills.
• Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks.
• Knowledge of basic mathematical operations and calculations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, innovative, and challenging environment.
• Ability to wear safety equipment such as, but not limited to safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hats, ear plugs, and respirators.
• Ability to see and hear the visual and audio safety warnings in the plant.
• Ability to bend, stoop and stretch to perform tasks.
• Some travel to shops may be required

Required Skills/Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Junior, or Senior majoring in Engineering or a related subject
• Leadership and project management skills demonstrated through participation in extra-curricular activities or previous work experience.
