Primary Objective of PositionAssist with material characterization to determine processing window of current materials, identify potential alternatives, complete reports on findings. "Hands-on" trials of alternative materials using pilot-scale extruder to assist with production scale-up. Actively participate as a team member in various engineering projects to facilitate the safety, quality, cost and delivery objectives of the company.
Major Areas of Responsibility- Assist with material characterization to improve product capabilities
- Analyze material flow data, compile reports, and correlate with processability
- Participate in profile extrusions on pilot and production scale
- Provide materials support for collaboration with other engineering projects
- Create standardized work for processes developed
Qualifications- Must have completed a minimum of 4 semesters in the Plastics, Materials, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or Chemistry discipline, or 1 full year of tech school in an instrumentation or other related courses of study
- Must have a GPA of 2.8 or higher
- Good organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to successfully interact with all levels of the organization
- PC literate (Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word)
- Good technical writing skills
Physical Requirements- Ability to regularly lift (weekly) up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, twist, and carry tools or materials over the course of 8 - 10-hour shift; while supporting 24-hour/5-day per week plant operations.
- Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
