    Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

    $28.686 - $35.857 - $43.029

    This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member (e.g. dues paying, fee paying, religious exception contributor) for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement.

    REQUIRED: Proof of completion of both GI Technical Specialist (GTS) and Advanced GI Technical Specialist (AGTS) programs.

    What You Will Do

    Provides for the organization, maintenance and purchase of equipment and supplies. Assures the monitoring of the environment. Performs all job responsibilities of and acts as a resource to Endoscopy Tech and Endoscopy Tech II positions.

    Required Qualifications

    • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent

    • 5 Years relevant experience required, including clinical experience with ERCP wires and feeding tube placements.

    • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

    Other Qualification Requirements

    • Proof of completion of both GI Technical Specialist (GTS) and Advanced GI Technical Specialist (AGTS) programs - required. Program completion to be tracked and maintained by the department.

    Essential Functions

    • Budget ManagementDemonstrates the ability to proactively communicate with other healthcare team members to provide information relevant to the financial issues associated with equipment and supplies.Follows through as directed to follow up on issues and concerns identified as financial trends are analyzed.Participates in the budgetary process by communicating to the healthcare team concerns and issues related to new capital and supply purchases.Works with management team to find optimal, cost effective, high-quality equipment.Affects decreases in costs of supplies and equipment by seeking rebates and exchanges on used equipment when appropriate, while utilizing existing SPD protocols for rebates.

    • Clinical Judgment and Decision MakingUtilizes a critical thinking approach to provide patient care that incorporates the mind, body and spirit; is individualized, and consistent with current standards of safety.Recognized resource, leader and problem-solver for staff in and outside of the unit.Identified as a clinical expert.     • Equipment MaintenanceDevelops, organizes, and maintains records related to equipment in the areas of responsibility.Provides for appropriate turnaround time when equipment is out of service for repair or maintenance, following up as needed with other departments.Communicates with the other members of the healthcare team to ensure that equipment repairs and maintenance are completed in a timely fashion.Provides expertise in the areas of equipment problem solving to avoid delays in patient care.Trains other staff members in equipment problem solving.

    • Equipment PurchasingDemonstrates an understanding the capital equipment and equipment purchaser process.Seeks out resources when confronted with new or problematic situations.Collaborates with leadership and clinical staff in making decisions related to purchase of equipment.

    • Patient CareAccurately and efficiently performs patient care activities under the direct supervision of a registered ~~~ addition to documented proficiency in assisting the gastroenterologist during basic endoscopic procedures, assists in advanced procedures including but not limited to: Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatopgraphy (ERCP), colonic and esophageal stent placement, EMR, balloon enteroscopy, and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) where services are provided.

    • Patient Care SuppliesIn collaboration with other departments and unit Leadership team provides for the establishment and maintenance of par levels of linen and patient care supplies to support the clinical needs of the units.Continuously assess the need for minor/major equipment purchase, rental to provide for the clinical needs of the patients served.Coordinates in-services for staff and physicians relating to new equipment.

    • Professional DevelopmentUnder direct supervision of department Manager/Clinical Lead, actively participates in annual competency training for endoscopy staff by evaluating staff knowledge of endoscope maintenance and cleaning.Collaborates with departmental Manager/Clinical Lead to update or develop new endoscope reprocessing competency modules and/or new equipment in-services as needed.Updates knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and changes to SGNA standards of practice.

    • SafetyAssess the work environment for safety issues and reports findings.Identifies educational needs for clinical staff to promote patient safety.Provides for appropriate documentation of education provided.Collaborates with manager to develop plan of action to resolve identified safety concern.Assures all scope reprocessing logs are correct and up to date, collates data and reports to Infection Control Practitioner.Provides FIT testing for all staff members in Endoscopy as directed by policy.Tracks all logs as they relate to patient care refrigerators, negative pressure room and blanket warmer. Assigns tasks to appropriate personnel as they relate to the log books.

    • SpecimensUnder the direct supervision of a registered nurse, correctly collects, labels, and processes all types of tissue specimens obtained in the Endoscopy Department.Shows proficiency with equipment used to obtain specimens (i.e. EUS needles, snares, biopsy forceps).Teaches correct specimen handling to new Endoscopy Technicians and monitors departmental process for specimen management to ensure regulatory compliance.Updates knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and changes to SGNA standards of practice.
