Embedded Operating Systems Developer

General Summary:

Responsibilities:

o Porting, designing, implementing, and debugging real-time embedded operating systems for SoCs (Systems-on-Chip) and microcontrollers

o Participating in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing

o Contributing to the evolution of processor system architecture

o Collaborating with cross-functional teams to create and sustain software for embedded applications

Technical Skills:

o Proficiency in embedded C programming for OS development

o Experience with developing and debugging the architecture interface for major OS components: schedulers, virtual memory management, processes, IPC and synchronization primitives, device drivers

o Knowledge of processor architecture as it relates to operating systems

o Experience with hypervisors and paravirtualization

o Familiarity with data structures, concurrent programming, unit testing, and code coverage

o Familiarity with POSIX and pthreads

o Knowledge of OS internals (preferably Zephyr or Linux)

o Experience with embedded software development

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

• 2+ years of experience with high-performance microprocessor design.

Pay range:

$113,500.00 - $170,500.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
