Electrical Engineer

Performs assignments, which require the application of engineering education, training or experience and special knowledge or judgment of the mathematical, physical, or engineering sciences. Assignments are designed to further develop the incumbent’s job knowledge and abilities. Practices applying engineering principles in discipline of competency. Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities. Performs detailed phases of design engineering work for projects of moderate size/complexity in one discipline. Keeps supervisor informed of progress.
Responsibilities:
Prepares advanced specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
Visits vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements. Visits jobsites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.
Mentors less experienced engineers, designers, and drafters. Supervises design personnel and other staff specialists. Participates in sales presentations.
Determines client requirements and develops specifications, drawings, instructions, and related documents.
Prepares inquiry and purchase requisitions. Prepares bid tabulations on simple purchases. Reviews vendor drawings for major components.
Develops a focus on least cost, safe design. Actively involved in maintaining the schedule and budget of assigned projects.
Meets company quality assurance requirements.
Supports field assignments as required.
Must be able to perform all the functions of the lower classifications.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit; climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception, and ability to focus. Employee must be able to climb ladders as typically found in petrochemical facilities.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may periodically be required to travel to client jobsites, usually involving heavy industrial (chemical) production facilities and access all areas of the facility. Therefore, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high
precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and the risk of electric shock. The noise level in workplace can be loud to moderate depending on assignment. Respirator fit testing may be required.
Qualifications:
11-15 years of experience related to Power Distribution. Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred, Professional Engineering license is required.
Education Requirements:
BS in Engineering (or higher) from ABET accredited Institution.
