The Engineer II is responsible for providing engineering input to the product development projects assigned to him/her including interfacing with the cross functional team consisting of engineering, operations (industrial engineering, production, and material procurement, sourcing) quality, service, and marketing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
2 or more years of relevant work experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with power electronics components such as inverters, converters, and controllers
Experience in new product design and development
Familiarity with Energy Storage System technologies including Li-ion batteries and solar
Hands-on experience with electronics ranging from wiring to soldering components onto PCBAs
Experience with wireless communications such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular
Experience with 3D modeling such as Creo
Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Designs, validates, and brings new products to market.
Drive new product development in the portable consumer battery product category including; Creating and maintaining PCBA layouts, schematics, drawings, and BOMs, Supporting product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs), Interfacing with internal company personnel, Provide technical support for assigned projects.
Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates moderately complex components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost (including cost/benefit analysis), reliability (risk analysis), and safety.
Develop product specifications and design validation plans, test cases, and procedures to ensure the performance, safety, and reliability of portable battery products.
Design and manage logic flowcharts for firmware development and validation.
Create and manage system DFMEA's from early design to full system validation.
Utilize Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process to implement effective corrective actions of faults or issues.
Collaborates with overseas manufacturing partners to design, develop and validate purchased complete product.
Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
Supporting product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs).
Develops less experienced engineers.
Other duties as assigned.

On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
