  • The Opportunity

    The EHS Coordinator will be a site resource in the development, deployment and continuous improvement of programs and systems that support environmental, health and safety excellence. Foster a culture of proactivity, accountability, engagement and sustainability through robust programs and processes with the primary goal of eliminating incidents and injuries. This key role will partner with the Multi-Site Safety Manager and the Environmental Service Manager to lead EHS matters to ensure the facility meets or exceeds legislative, corporate and industry requirements, as well as best practice standards.

    How you will impact Victory Packaging, a WestRock Company:

    • Provide support to the development, implementation and management of safety programs such as LOTO, Machine Guarding, PIT safety, Line and equipment opening, Electrical safety, Fall protection/prevention, Hazard Communication, Emergency Response, Hot work, Cranes and hoists, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, etc. to ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable environmental standards.

    • Report and Investigate incidents. Prepare and maintain required reports in internal and company safety management system.

    • Integrate and partner with the Safety pillar team to promote a proactive safety culture focused on incident prevention and regulatory compliance.

    • Partner with Safety Pillar Team to organize and participate in safety committee activities.

    • Partner with Multi-Site Safety manager to develop site specific safety objectives and create action plans to meet those objectives.

    • Conduct internal EHS self-assessments and weekly audits to ensure compliance.

    • Work with site leadership team to ensure all key EHS operational controls are in place and EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.

    • Audit and ensure DOT and Forklift training/safety procedures for regulatory compliance in partnership with site operations leaders and Fleet Safety.

    • Assure appropriate countermeasures are properly identified to prevent reoccurrence utilizing a robust incident investigation process including 5-Why root cause analysis.

    • Ensure timely coordination of all regulatory/Company or site required testing and training.

    • Have a relentless pursuit of continuous improvement.

    • Maintain, review and report EHS performance, identifying opportunities for improvement along with implementing preventative and corrective actions as required.

    • Lead with a "Team Based" problem solving approach and following our "Business Values"

    What you need to succeed

    • High school diploma or equivalent experience required.

    • Bachelor\u2019s degree from an accredited college or university preferred but not required.

    • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment.

    • OSHA 30 / OSHA 510, Federal and California preferred

    • Attention to detail and capability to analyze data and make sound conclusions.

    • Strong aptitude for organization, prioritization and managing multiple tasks at the same time.

    • Ability to actively participate in team-oriented processes influence team engagement and to drive team decision making to conclusions/solutions.

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and able to conduct Monthly Safety Training meetings with all shifts as required.

    • Analytical problem solving and decision-making abilities.

    • Strong focus on results and continuous improvement.

    • Relentless pursuit and belief in keeping our team members safe.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

    • AED/CPR/basic First Aid certifications preferred.

    The starting rate for this position is $20hr - $29hr, depending on your role, level and location. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentives, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and a number or programs that provide for both paid and unpaid time away from work. Your actual pay will be based on your work location and other factors, such as your skills, experience and education.
