    This Opportunity

    Our Earth & Environment Team is seeking a Early Career Geologist to work out of our Ridgeland, MS office.

    This successful candidate in this role will take part in providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector. Generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.

    Your Impact

    • Support a wide range of environmental and engineering projects, from conceptual site model development to design and implementation of remediation and risk management strategies.

    • Conduct field exercises including drilling, geologic logging, well installation, sampling of various media, and hydrogeologic testing.

    • Support the design and implementation of bench-scale testing, pilot study programs, and full-scale remediation strategies.

    • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.

    • Undertake project-based travel and site work, both within the United States and internationally. The frequency and duration of project-based travel will depend on business and client needs.

    • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, models, cross-sections, and figures for the interpretation and/or presentation of data, findings, and/or analyses.

    • Assist in the preparation of comprehensive technical reports.

    • Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide solutions for clients.

    • Complete training on assigned tasks.

    • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

    • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or or related scientific field.

    • 0 to 1 year of relevant post education experience.

    • Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.

    • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain field testing and monitoring equipment.

    • Ability to lift and transport a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis during the course of field work.

    • Safely operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company.

    • Willingness to travel for field work as dictated by project demands, which could be as much as 75% of the time and to periodically adjust personal schedules to meet project needs.

    • Detail-oriented, team player with good communication, analytical, organization, and time management skills.

    • Exhibit strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.

    • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, along with a willingness to work as part of a group.

    • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.

    • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Ability to obtain professional licensure (GIT and/or PG).

    • Pass DOT certification training to operate a field truck pulling an equipment trailer, if necessary.

    • Experience performing soil and rock logging.

    • Experience performing soil, sediment, soil gas, and/or groundwater sampling.

    • Familiarity with various drilling techniques and experience with installation of groundwater monitoring and/or remediation wells.

    • Experience with groundwater and plume modeling software a plus.

    • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120)
