    The Opportunity

    The Stockroom Truck Driver is responsible for safely making pickups and deliveries to Abbott and vendor locations within Lake County for GES Material Administration Stockroom/Warehouse Operations.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:45am - 2:15pm

    What You'll Work On

    The three major responsibilities include

    • Operating Abbott or leased motor vehicles in a safe manner (van, small truck, truck no CDL required).

    • Complete pickups, and deliveries at various Abbott locations with some emergency vendor pickups.

    • Maintain positive customer relationships with all Abbott employees.

    • 1) Operating motor vehicles in a safe manner:

    • The Stockroom Truck Driver must ensure safe driving techniques at all times and must meet all departmental procedures and Illinois/Wisconsin state motor vehicle operating license requirements for FMCSA compliance with a 26,000 GVWR truck.

    • 2) Complete pickups and deliveries at various Abbott and vendor locations: The Stockroom Truck Driver must be able to load and unload materials, pallets, drums, cylinders, barrels, etc., onto and off the truck as needed.

    • This includes using various tracking methods of written manifests, computer manifests, or vendor packing slips.

    • 3) Maintain positive customer relationships with all Abbott employees:

    • The Stockroom Truck Driver delivers to many different Abbott locations in NC, AP, Amhurst, and Conway Park.

    • Excellent customer service skills are necessary because the driver delivers to many different locations and various Abbott personnel throughout the day.

    • When problems arise with deliveries, the Stockroom Truck Driver must try and resolve the issue.

    • If a solution cannot be found, the Stockroom Truck Driver must contact the Stockroom/Warehouse Group Leader.

    Additional responsibilities include support of warehouse operations

    • Maintains warehouse/stockroom in a neat and orderly manner to be always ready.

    • Must perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor to meet department goals.

    • Receives, records and stores incoming material.

    • Provides financial reports for plant personnel, assists accounts payable concerning invoice discrepancies, provides repair parts for PM's, shutdowns, etc.

    • Reviews/investigates receipt questions/discrepancies for stock items.

    • Issues stock items.

    • Receives and stores stock items.

    • Performs cycle counting.

    • Processes repair items and maintains a separate warehouse for repairable items.

    • Must obtain RA# from vendor, handle paperwork involved, and package and identify properly for shipping.

    Accountability:

    The Stockroom Truck Driver is responsible for driving Abbott vehicles or leased vehicles in a safe, legal manner.

    Deliveries and pickups are to be made according to the Stockroom delivery schedule in a safe and efficient manner.

    If the driver is reckless, it could result in personal injury to Abbott employees, contract employees, or the public.

    If materials, parts or equipment is damaged or lost, it could result in product availability issues, delayed projects, down time, IDOT, OSHA or Regulatory compliance observations and/or fines.

    Required Qualifications

    • High School Education required. Must be able to read and write, follow written and verbal instructions, and use computers for tracking and information.

    • Valid Commercial Driver License compliant with a 26,000 GVWR vehicle.

    • The Stockroom Truck Driver position requires frequent strenuous manual labor when stopping at various locations for pickups and deliveries. The employee must be in good physical condition and be capable of loading and unloading within time constraints. The position requires excellent driving skills and outstanding customer skills.

    The base pay for this position is $19.55 - $39.15 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
