    Description

    Responsible for safely operating a vehicle (van or minibus) to pick-up and drop off children with acute medical conditions enrolled in the Pediatric Skilled Nursing (PSN) Program.

    The morning route is typically scheduled Monday through Friday between 5:30 am to 9:30 am. The afternoon route is typically scheduled between the hours of 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ability to successfully complete all required driver training prior to transporting PSN clients. Complete Defensive Driving, First Aid, CPR/BLS, vehicle evacuation procedures, children's mobility and securement devices, two-way communication procedures, passenger Assistance and addressing bio-hazard situations.

    • Operate Pediatric Skilled Nursing (PSN) vehicles over designated routes or in response to dispatcher/supervisor instructions

    • Comply with all driver and passenger record keeping requirements that include daily driver trip sheets, vehicle inspections, rider pickup and drop-off times, Title XIX (MTM Contract requirements) rider or physician documents plus parent or caregiver correspondence

    • Aid clients / children with acute medical conditions when boarding and exiting vehicle

    • Ensure the safety of all riders by use of their appropriate passenger restraining device inside the vehicle

    • Provide minor vehicle maintenance when needed (replacement bulbs, checking fluid levels and tire pressure plus specified interval testing of all vehicle safety equipment and other approved tasks)

    • Readily adjust to variable working conditions including adverse weather, traffic passenger challenges.

    • Document all assigned vehicle activities for each day including odometer readings, fuel purchases, vehicle deficiencies as well as any other required information

    • Maintain the vehicle's interior and exterior appearance

    • Provide secondary transportation to other designated agency divisions for medical and social trip purposes

    • Attend departmental and agency-wide safety briefings and training sessions (both formal and informal) as required

    • Works in partnership with the quality department to develop appropriate measures in support of program outcomes.

    • Participates in department quality planning activities on continuous improvement, logic models, performance metrics.

    • Valid Wisconsin driver's license without limitations that are incompatible with duties & responsibilities and a motor vehicle record acceptable to program and/ or contractual requirements.

    • Vehicle liability insurance in accordance with Agency policy if using your own vehicle
