About You and this Role
Dowis seeking high school student candidates for ourWinter 2025 Registered Apprentice Program (RAP). These opportunities are located at our Fort Saskatchewan facility in Alberta, Canada.
If selected, you will participate in a 5-month paid program (January - May) offering hands-on work experience within one of the following disciplines within our chemical plants. You will also be indentured into the Alberta Registered Apprenticeship Program.
Instrumentation
Dow Instrument Technicians install, maintain and repair the measuring and control instruments used in industrial processing. They work with a wide variety of pneumatic and electronic instruments used to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level, motion, force, and chemical composition to support the process plants.
Millwright
Dow Millwright/Industrial Mechanics install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair process and mechanical equipment used in industrial processing. The mechanical equipment may include pumps, various types of compressors, blowers, fans, gearboxes, mixers and agitators.
Electrician
Dow Electricians install, maintain and repair all types of electrical equipment used in industrial processing. They work with a wide variety of electrical equipment, motors, starters, breakers, wiring at many different voltage levels to support the process plants.
Qualifications
MUST proactively work with local RAP Coordinator or school counselor to confirm eligibility for RAP program and that education requirements for the trade entrance are part of your schooling plan.
Reliable attendance is an expectation of every Dow employee; therefore, students must be able to secure their own reliable transportation.
A class 5 driver's license.
A minimum requirement for this Canadian based position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship is available for this position.
Must be willing and able to meet the physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:
Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
Work in tight and closed in spaces.
Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator and face coverings.
Additional Notes
This opportunity does not offer relocation assistance or travel reimbursement. This includes reimbursement for travel expenses incurred to and from test sessions/interviews.
