    Position Overview

    As a superintendent, you will be overseeing technical and challenging aspects of the construction and execution of the PacifiCorp Line Hardening Wildfire Mitigation Program in the Portland/Medford/Salt Lake City operations. This role provides an opportunity to work with high performing teams to successfully completing complex projects, which requires appreciation and understanding of the importance of effective team collaboration and integration. Your experience and knowledge will bring success and the ability to collaborate with a team to meet the challenges of this significant project.

    At the PacifiCorp Line Hardening Wildfire Mitigation Program, you will be part of a team with highly qualified individuals experienced in completing technically complex utility installations and infrastructure upgrades. The key to success in our project rests largely on the quality, training, and capabilities of our personnel.

    The Superintendent plans and coordinates the production efforts of direct supervisors under his/her supervision and motivates them to accomplish the work safely, correctly, and efficiently. Provides liaison between field engineers and crafts to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications while adhering to Safety as the number 1 focus. Supervises other disciplines at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. Must understand and implement scheduling/planning, cost controls, Microsoft tools, and equipment systems.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure work plans are developed and in place before entering work areas.

    • Ensure employees have the PPE and the tools to work safely and execute quality work.

    • Follow traffic control plans in accordance with the local transportation departments.

    • Support General Foreman and Foreman in the field and keep folks accountable for their work.

    • Ensure your work is scheduled in advance and appropriate tools, material and resources are in place for work to be executed.

    • Track your progress in cost, quality, and schedule daily.

    • Mentoring and supervise a crew of linemen and foremen.

    • Utilization and care for assigned equipment.

    • Lead planning efforts and have a 90 day, 3 week and 3 days schedule always updated

    Other duties include:

    • Meet daily with Construction Manager to develop play of the day (POD) and equipment needs.

    • Review daily costs.

    • Put measures in place to limit the exposure of the traveling public.

    • Verify General Foreman are aligning and meeting according to schedule.

    • Observe and critique operations and work with GF's to maximize efficiency.

    • Attend different crew safety meetings and provide feedback.

    • Represent the department in weekly schedule meetings.

    • Conduct weekly labor productivity review (LPR) meetings with the department.

    • Review commodity curves with the department.

    • Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality requirements with staff.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 15 years of experience as an outside lineman, with a strong focus on utility line installations and wildfire mitigation.

    • Highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

    • The position requires someone with the ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding 1884's policies, procedures, and software programs. Also, the position requires the person to identify and resolve any problems that may arise.

    • Must have excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    Project-Specific Requirements:

    • Ability to work near assigned heavy equipment, machinery, and tools for construction.

    • Ability to work in environments that may be hazardous or contain electrical risks.

    • Ability to be mobile and go where the work is withing a reasonable distance away from Hub Office locations.

    • Be comfortable to managing large crews of Lineman professionals to safely and efficiently execute work.
