  • The Director, Operational Risk & Resilience Oversight (ORRO), will report to and support the Head of ORRO Governance. The Director will be responsible for external engagements which include managing relationships and requirements with regulators, collaborating closely with compliance, internal audit, and keys stakeholders in the first line of defense. The role will also be responsible for leading the performance and maturity assessment of ORRO function, developing performance measures and monitoring mechanism for the team.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Lead all regulatory reviews and responses relating to Operational Risk, and lead the collaboration with other risk and governance teams as well as key stakeholders in the first line of defense.

    • Responsible for all internal reviews (self-assessment, regulatory gap and maturity assessment, internal audits, etc.) from beginning to end, including reporting to our senior leaders and relevant stakeholders.

    • Track and monitor changes to regulatory requirements, actively participate in industry forums and monitor and share best-practices.

    • Oversee quality assessment activities and develop practical improvement plans, communicate with internal team members, external stakeholders and driven through to implementation.

    • Support the execution of function improvement programs including enhancements to Risk Programs.

    • Responsible for completing the talent gap analysis within ORRM, identify training opportunities and ensure that the team receives adequate training to enhance their skillset.

    • Responsible for coordinating team engagement exercises, track action plans and provide updates to the team and senior leaders. Actively engage in company programs such as DEI, Risk Engagement working group and bring back learnings and actions for the team.

    • Ensure continuous and effective line of communication across appropriate Lines of Defense risk teams.

    • Promote a strong risk culture and oversee relevant risk culture assessment processes.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and experienced in providing actively engage/participate in relevant risk forums such as Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association.

    • A background in risk management, operations, audit, compliance or technology, with 10+ years of experience and a track record demonstrating increasing responsibility.

    • A background in managing employee engagement activities , performing skill gap analysis and identifying training resources for the team .

    • Very strong leadership, communication , and influencing skills are a must.

    • Proven track record of being a collaborative and transformative leader .

    • Strong project management skills and experience. Will manage multiple initiatives across many different teams. The ability to get meaningful participation and support from many different resources and other departments will be critical to success.

    • Highly developed business acumen, with a pragmatic approach to solving problems and implementing solutions. Act as a consultant to the businesses and assist in designing approaches to the implementation of the ORRM Framework that work for each business.

    Salary range is expected to be between

    $103,050.00 CAD - $185,490.00 CAD
