    Welsbach Electric Corp. ("Welsbach") is one of the largest commercial electrical contractors in New York City. We specialize in outdoor electrical construction and maintenance for government agencies, utilities, and private enterprises. Our headquarters are located in Queens, NY, where we maintain an extensive in-house inventory of materials, tools, and a fleet in order to provide prompt electrical maintenance services.

    Our field force consists of highly qualified IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) journeymen electricians and linemen. These employees are supported by experienced project management, estimating, engineering, accounting, and administrative personnel, who together make us one of the leading New York City electrical contracting companies.

    SUMMARY

    The Director of Safety and Quality Control will be accountable for creating a safe, accident-free, healthy work environment and will facilitate and support the companies project quality control program

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Develop and Maintain company's current Environmental, Health and Safety policies and implement new risk control measures as needed

    • Prepare and implement JHAs, SWPs and CWPs

    • Act as safety advisor to Project Managers and Superintendents on each project and provide technical support for all EHS requirements

    • Direct jobsite EHS activities as required by our Company, OSHA and Industry standards

    • Identify, control, and eliminate hazardous site conditions that may lead to worker injury or property damage

    • Oversee and/or perform regular project walk throughs and provide Observations and corrective action reporting thru company's online project management application

    • Ensure subcontractor EHS policies, JHA's and pre-installation safety requirements are met for trades prior to their on-site activity

    • Ensure that federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed, and that OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met

    • Provide monthly reporting to company Management Team

    • Audit/Manage Corporate Safety Policy

    • Perform Root Cause Analysis of incidents and prepare & implement prevention plans

    • Oversee Fleet (Vehicle) Safety

    • Develop and Oversee Quality assurance and quality control for company projects

    PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • Degree or Certification in safety management or relevant field is preferred

    • Minimum 5 yrs of experience in a professional safety role; proven successful experience as a safety manager preferred

    • Associate/Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP) Preferred but not required

    • OSHA 500 certification preferred

    • Experience writing Health And Safety Plans (HASP's) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's).

    • Deep understanding of occupational health and safety guidelines/regulations

    • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, federal, state, and city environmental and safety regulations and practices.

    • Ability to do public speaking, for safety training purposes.

    • Must have a valid driver's license, in good standing.

    • Experience in managing quality control program a plus.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel).

    • Working knowledge of project document control software a plus.

    Compensation Range: $130k - $175k depending on Experience.
