    The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Generative AI team is responsible for growing OCI's Generative AI and Agent services. Our goal is to enable customers to apply AI to solve their particular business problems with Oracle's assistance and expertise in Generative AI. In this role, you will have an opportunity to work with teams of applied scientists and engineers to deliver high quality generative ai models and services that delights our customers with the confidence that their data are safe and protected.

    Your Opportunity

    As a sciences director, you will work closely with our product managers, engineering teams and strategic customers, helping them on building the world class Generative AI products for enterprise business scenarios. You will lead and inspire a team of applied scientists specialized in generative ai LLM and LMM models. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the vision of Generative AI products by identifying gaps and help address them quickly to ensure our customers get the best of Oracle's Generative AI products. You will recruit, allocate resources, set priorities, and manage schedules to meet customers' requirements.

    What You--ll Do

    • Lead a team of applied scientists and engineers design and build world-class Generative AI and Agent services.

    • Lead a team of applied scientists and engineers build the necessary tooling for data acquisition, data cleaning, data augmentation, model training, and visualization.

    • Lead a team of applied scientists research, evaluate, and implement various foundation models and techniques from research papers, partners, and other public internet resources.

    • Build a high performing data science team by hiring and nurturing top talents.

    • Work closely with senior management and architects

    • Collaborate with engineering and product team to develop production code for serving Generative AI products at scale to internal and external customers.

    About You

    • You are a seasoned science manager with a proven track record of delivering high-impact ML/Deep Learning solutions.

    • You have substantial knowledge and experience with large language models and, have experience delivering scalable solutions with speech, vision, and language AI models.

    • You have been a data scientist yourself and understand how to drive quality and data science excellence

    • You are obsessed with the customer, always exceeding expectations

    • You understand the importance of high standards, never satisfied with mediocrity, and constantly striving for excellence both from yourself and your team

    • You are comfortable with ambiguity and have a strong sense of ownership to drive the development of new projects and features to completion

    • You are passionate about technology and are not afraid to defend your opinions with peers/superiors

    • You are an expert at recruiting, interviewing, and hiring in a competitive environment and have the proven ability to motivate, align, and manage high performing, happy and empowered scientists

    • You always use data to drive decisions within your organization

    Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning and equivalent

    • 10+ years of experience applying machine learning for solving real-world problems in the industry

    • 5+ years of experience applying deep learning, language, speech, and vision models

    • 3+ years of experience managing and leading the data science team.

    • An experienced and credible expert in language models and deep learning.

    • A proven and enthusiastic, high-energy, motivating leader who is visibly passionate and is capable of inspiring and galvanizing an organization

    • A balance of strategic and tactical skills, with a high level of intellectual agility and capacity for original thought

    • An exceptional communicator who can write, present and effectively adjust messages to meet individual audiences and organizations

    • Experience in the ability to manage a team during transformational change

    • A proven ability to navigate and effectively collaborate with other departments and resources in large complex environments

    • Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment

    Responsibilities

    As a director for OCI Generative AI science, you will apply your extensive knowledge of sciences and software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision future improvements to the architecture.

    US: Hiring Range: from $120,300 to $291,900 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

    Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.

    Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

    8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
