Position Overview:
As a Director of the Materials group for Atlantic Canada, reporting into the VP, Earth & Environment for Atlantic Canada, you will lead and manage complex civil engineering projects, providing technical expertise and strategic direction. You will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects, maintaining client relationships, and contributing to the growth and development of our civil engineering practice in Atlantic Canada. The position will manage NB, NS and NL for the Materials group.
As part of the team, you will lead a large group of individuals who will grant you access to an unparalleled network of resources, expertise, and endless opportunities to collaborate on exciting projects with diverse teammates from marine biologists to geophysicists to geotechnical engineers and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the Profit & Loss (P&L) for the environmental services division, ensuring financial targets are met.
Lead and mentor a team of project managers and technical staff, promoting professional development and high performance.
Manage large-scale civil engineering projects from inception to completion.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers and technicians.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.
Oversee project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Prepare and review technical reports, designs, and specifications.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation and presentations.
Collaborate with other disciplines within WSP to deliver integrated solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering; master's degree preferred.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on infrastructure projects.
Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex projects.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
Commitment to sustainability and innovation in engineering practices.
