  • Description: The selected candidate will establish and maintain relationships with cognizant congressional committees and professional staff members and with constituent congressional and personal staffs, provide advice and counsel to senior leadership on congressional issues, coordinate visits by congressional Members and staff to company facilities and maintain strong relationships with Executive Branch Legislative Liaison Offices to support Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control (MFC), and Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) portfolios, including various munitions programs (GMLRS, Javelin, PAC-3, HIMARS, THAAD, Mk 48 Torpedo, etc), sensor systems and packages, rotary wing programs (Black Hawk, Black Hawk modernization, CH-53K, CRH), and mission systems (C4ISR systems, electronic warfare, radar, maritime systems, and training / logistics / sustainment) among others. In addition, provide advice and counsel to senior leadership on congressional issues and policies and help manage advocacy efforts for our focus programs.

    Internally, the position is responsible for cultivating a close working relationship with company level business development, government relations, and communications personnel in order to achieve business and corporate goals.

    Basic Qualifications:

    o Requires extensive experience on Capitol Hill or experience in legislative affairs either for the Executive Branch or in a similar defense industry position.

    o Comprehensive understanding of legislative, executive and processes

    o Minimum of 10+ years of directly related experience.

    o Ability to research and analyze the DoD budget in order to construct and execute corresponding legislative plans.

    o Broad base of professional experience in political campaigns, legislative policy, and the private sector operations.

    o Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance

    o Ability to travel approx. 20%

    o Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and communication skills.

    o Comprehensive understanding of procurement processes

    o Knowledge and experience in Navy/Marine Corps programs preferred

    o Ability to comprehend and cut-through complex issues to craft appropriate legislative strategies.

    o Ability to construct and deliver persuasive and factual messaging.

    o Unwavering commitment to being a source of credible and accurate information on programs within jurisdictional portfolio.

    o Experience holding a senior legislative staff position in the House and/or Senate.

    o Ability to work and communicate in a fast paced environment and in a bi-partisan manner.

    o Individual must be a goal oriented self- starter and willing team player.

    Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

    Clearance Level: Secret

    Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

    Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

    Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
