The Chief Data Official and Director of Data Engineering and Artificial Intelligence is responsible for leading our data and artificial intelligence strategy, and execution of related programs and practices that drive measurable business outcomes. This role is pivotal for enterprise accountability of the organization's data and AI assets to drive value for business stakeholders. This role involves establishing, leading, and operating the data engineering and artificial intelligence function to deliver agile solutions while managing data as a valued asset. This role will partner with business and technical leaders to establish and influence data quality, data management, and data governance practices. This role will establish the team and develop the talent to support enterprise capabilities for data engineering and AI to build trust in managing the data and supporting e volving technology capabilities. This role is a senior leadership position reporting directly to the Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO).

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Establish the vision for managing data as a business asset - to leverage data and analytics capabilities to maximize the value derived from data assets.

    • Lead the creation of the data strategy, data governance, and associated practices in collaboration with the CIO.

    • Maintain authority and accountability for exploiting the value of enterprise information assets, and of the analytics used to render insights for decision making, automated decisions, and augmentation of human performance. Be the corporate leader of data-driven insights and use cases that help support strategic and tactical business outcomes.

    • Leverage AI to enhance data engineering processes, automating data cleaning, integration, and transformation tasks to improve efficiency and accuracy.

    • Implement AI-driven analytics solutions to uncover deeper insights, predict trends, and support data-driven decision-making across the enterprise.

    • Foster the creation of a data-driven and AI-native culture, related competencies, and literacy across the enterprise. Lead these transformation efforts by developing data engineering and AI talent and maturing the capability of the organization.

    • Institute an enterprise operating model for data and AI that is consistent with the capabilities and competencies required to execute the strategy.

    • Champion the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLM), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies to enhance business processes and customer engagement.

    • Develop and deploy machine learning models to enhance data quality, detect anomalies, and automate data governance tasks.

    • Identify new kinds, types, and sources of trusted data to enable business value innovation throughout the organization.

    • Lead data-driven innovation for the enterprise, including investigation, adoption, and exploitation of artificial intelligence.

    • Connect with stakeholders to identify their unmet needs that expose new opportunities and redesign business processes and interactions as part of the digital transformation.

    • Focus on business outcomes, not reporting. Inventory the business' KPIs, not just for the purpose of reporting on the business with dashboards and reports. Modern data and analytics strategies use KPIs that describe how data and analytics will be used to improve the business, actually achieving those business outcomes through specific business actions.

    • Oversee delivery models, methods, and practices for the creation of data products to ensure consistent application and use of data and analytics solutions.

    • Establish and maintain trust in data assets by instituting governance mechanisms for data and algorithms used for analysis, analytical applications, and automated decision-making.
