    The Director, CAR-T Engineering and Maintenance will focus on providing technical and strategic leadership in "Make Asset Management (MAM)," which encompasses Engineering, Commissioning & Qualification, Maintenance and Reliability, Automation and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). The position entails strategic and technical leadership throughout the entire lifecycle of asset management-from concept and design to installation, commissioning, qualification, maintenance, and retirement-ensuring compliance, reliability, and operational excellence in support of our CAR-T therapies.

    The candidate must be comfortable to working in a matrixed environment, both within Johnson & Johnson and with our CAR-T collaboration partner, Legend Biotech.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide strategic and technical leadership for CAR-T Facilities, Engineering, Maintenance, Commissioning, Qualification, and Automation and Manufacturing Systems (MES) teams at the Raritan, NJ plant.

    • Collaborate with Legend Biotech to oversee cost, reliability, and compliance of CAR-T supply chain assets and services across the site.

    • Manage capital project portfolio including investment forecasting and execution of local projects.

    • Offer technical guidance across departments to shape requirements for startup and continuous improvement initiatives.

    • Lead all aspects of Site Asset Master Planning, including Long Range Financial Plan (LRFP) cycles and Capital Expenditure (CapEx) governance, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy.

    • Supervise and motivate site teams to drive performance through technical innovation and a Credo-based culture, focusing on values such as servant leadership, engagement, collaboration, and talent development.

    • Active participation in health authority and regulatory agency inspections and audits.

    • Establish proactive communication and effective relationships with stakeholder communities, fostering expertise sharing with global CAR-T entities.

    • Set clear goals, objectives, and performance metrics for all programs, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as needed for successful outcomes.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or PhD preferred.

    Experience and Skills

    Required

    • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role

    • Extensive knowledge of cGMPs, and relevant technical standards

    • Strong financial and business acumen with a consistent track record of leading departmental and investment budgets in compliance with financial and SOX regulations

    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

    • Proven capacity to lead and inspire teams

    • Capable of dealing with ambiguity, working and leading in a matrix environment

    • Ability to resolve complex problems and manage multiple stakeholder

    • Ability to lead the development of critical path analyses and support scenario planning

    • Demonstrated experience leading transformational change

    • Communicates effectively with people at all levels, including the ability to understand their priorities, and to earn their respect and trust, along with the willingness to provide them with the best decisions in time-sensitive situations

    • Proficiency in English language (verbal and written)

    Preferred

    • Experience with one or more of the followings: Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Quality and Asset Risk Management, Environment Health & Safety, Manufacturing Asset Management, and Six Sigma/Process Excellence tools.

    Other

    • Requires up to 10% domestic and/or international travel

    The anticipated base pay range for this position is $146,000 to $252,000.

    The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

    • Vacation - up to 120 hours per calendar year
