• Direct to Earth (DTE) Network Scheduler

Metis Technology Solutions, Inc.White Sands Missile Range, NM 88002

    Job #2816896280

  • POSITION SUMMARY:

In this role, the selected candidate will have responsibility to support scheduling of satellite contacts for the DTE network using the Near Earth Network Scheduling System (NENSS) for the government owned, contractor operated (GOCO) and commercial service provider (CSP) satellite antennas for download of NASA science satellite data. Opportunities for some flex work and work from home are available.

    MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

This position will be responsible for:

    • Provides 24/7 support with normal business hours out of the White Sands Complex (WSC) located outside of Las Cruces, NM, and rotating, after hours standby support. An international cell phone and laptop is provided for after hours support.
    • Interacts with international CSPs with automated transfer of schedules and direct communication to adjust schedules for emergencies, missed supports due to technical issues, and to provide unanticipated support needs. The NENSS calculates satellite views and then automatically schedules the antennas with conflicts or service gaps resolved manually by DTE schedulers.
    • Supports reporting, and plans updates for support to minimize NASA costs while maximizing use of the networks, and load leveling where required.
    • Works with ground station antenna operators to understand operating constraints and to schedule alternate or supplementary satellite contacts to download data when schedules change due to outages, equipment failures, or other service interruption.
    • Interface with NASA DTE customers, and SENSE Teammate Subcontractors.
    • Develops a strawman schedule three weeks out and then manages that schedule through the real time week where the supports are conducted.
    • Publishes the multi-week schedule and manages transfer of electronic schedules to the antennas and service providers.
    • Ensure support for system outages and other issues so the DTE can maintain a 90% antenna availability and 99.5% proficiency average. Response to outage effectiveness is due to the scheduling ability to effectively manage communications.
    • Provide inputs, as needed, for risks, budgets, policy updates, and technical changes.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:
    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
