Responsibilities

Direct development and implementation of infection control policies, procedures and strategies.

• Direct the surveillance, remediation and reporting of infections across the organization.

• Develop program goals, plans and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, regulatory/legal and ethical requirements and objectives of the organization.

• Plan, organize and direct all activities related to staffing, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.

• Prepare budgets and ensure compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.

• Evaluate the infection control program by identifying strategies that address the risk of infection transmission and assessing the risk for occupational exposure to infectious diseases.

• Lead the analysis and interpretation of data on healthcare associated infections, and recommends plans to optimize the outcomes.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Certification specializing in Infection Control credentialed from the Certification Board ofInfection Control and Epidemiology Inc (CBIC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experiencerequired, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate's degree/Bachelor'sdegree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those yearsbeing in leadership/management.

Additional Preferences

• Certification in Infection Control

• 3 years of prior infection prevention department leadership preferred
