    Astellas Pharma Canada (APCA) is currently searching for a Digital Product Designer (US/UI).

    Description:

    The Digital Product Management & Human Centric Design team is looking for a talented and experienced Digital Product Designer (UI/UX) to join our team and contribute to the creation of user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, functional, digital and data products, principally supporting our HealthX hub in development and delivery of patient focused, digital healthcare solutions, but also supporting enterprise solutions.

    As a Digital Product Designer (UI/UX), you will excel at working to the highest standards of digital product delivery and help build and develop a world class digital design team. You will work hands-on to deliver high quality outputs whilst also bringing experienced insight into opportunities and strategic direction.

    As a Digital Product Designer (UI/UX), it is expected that you have well-honed design skills and a talent for leading teams through design projects. As a Digital Product Designer (UI/UX), you will be expected to be able to work cross functionally, solving design challenges while inspiring others through your work and collaboration.

    As a Digital Product Designer (UI/UX), you will be responsible for creating human-centric designs for digital products, such as websites, mobile apps, and software interfaces. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Software Development Teams, Product Strategists, Patient Centric researchers, Brand Teams, internal customers and business stakeholders to create class leading, intuitive, and engaging designs that meet stakeholder needs and align with our business goals.

    Essential Job Duties:

    This role is expected to work flexibly, as job responsibilities will evolve as the skill base is established and grows and scope is refined. The role is expected to be able to adapt based on evolving findings and learning and work according to the overall direction of the Head, Product Management & HealthX. Some of the expected core responsibilities are outlined below.

    • Work closely with product managers and other core team members (e.g. strategists, developers etc.) to collect and evaluate user needs/requirements and combine this with creativity to illustrate product design directions and concepts and supporting information.

    • Create journey maps, user personas, wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, infographics, and site maps etc. to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.

    • Support, provide insight, and create visualisations and illustrations (imagery and interactive visuals) at all stages of product exploration and development.

    • Design and test lo and high-fidelity mock-ups and interactive prototypes using tools like, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar.

    • Present and defend design decisions to stakeholders, articulating the rationale behind design choices.

    • Establish, develop, and maintain design systems, standards, style guides, and UI asset repository to ensure innovation and consistent use across associated products and platforms.

    • Act as a strategic design leader on project teams (both internal and with external partners), guiding developments, thinking about opportunities, evolving trends, and future design directions.

    • Drive collaboration with wider teams and business areas to improve design system and data visualisation practices and ensure the implementation of designs aligns with the intended user experience.

    • Develop, drive, and champion high-quality design practices and play an influential role in setting up and driving forward the establishment, development, and growth of the digital product design capability within the business.

    • This position may require travel domestically and/or internationally.

    Required Qualifications:

    • A genuine passion for providing value to patients through digital healthcare innovations. Must be driven to make a positive difference in the healthcare domain.

    • A bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years hands-on relevant experience with end-to-end digital product design with demonstrable experience in visual design, user-centric design, systems thinking, UI/UX, and working with user research data.

    • A portfolio of professional design work showcasing the above and an in-depth understanding of UI/UX design principles and processes, insights-based design processes, and experience of how design impacts business.

    • Highly proficient working knowledge of technologies and software to support development, such as: Figma, InVision, HTML, CSS (SCSS), iOS, Android, Design Systems, and Adobe Creative Suite or similar.

    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

    • Excellent visualisation, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate a vision for a product idea in a way others can relate to and buy into.

    • Experience in early-stage innovation and idea development.

    • Experience working in complex projects which require cross functional efforts.

    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    • Ability to communicate and work well with internal and external stakeholders with various backgrounds.

    • Proactive interpersonal and networking abilities to engage, interact, and influence top/senior leadership team members internally.

    • Ability to operate tactically and proactively as a team player.

    • Ability to adapt to and address challenges and unknowns with structure and an enthusiastic approach.

    • Strong sense of ethics and responsibility understanding the importance of prioritising patient safety, data privacy, and ethical considerations in all product development decisions.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience of successfully developing digital products within or independent of a pharmaceutical company.

    • Experience of working in a global organization.

    • Experience working in Agile development environments.
