    Program Summary

    KBR provides full-spectrum base operations support to Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia, a remote location in the British Indian Ocean Territory. Our robust supply chain ensures on-time delivery of mission-critical supplies, and our team conducts essential port and airfield operations in this geographically complex environment. The KBR team is over 1,000 people strong, providing not only life support services such as water treatment, electricity, and telecom/antenna maintenance, but also quality of life services like Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) and an award-winning dining facility.

    Job Summary

    Stands watch and performs the operational duties required on his/her assigned watch section in the SATCOM Earth Terminal System.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Performs planned and corrective maintenance tasks on watch as assigned by the Lead, SATCOM.

    • Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner and IAW established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

    • Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on telecommunications equipment.

    • Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems that can typically be solved by properly evaluating and interpreting manufacturer's manuals or similar technical documents.

    • Operates, tests, aligns, inspects, patches, and configures all telecommunications equipment as necessary to meet operational requirements.

    • Monitors and maintains all local and remote alarms.

    • Assists in troubleshooting after notification of a problem has occurred.

    • Assists in the monitoring of all order-wire query and ensures that the queries are acknowledged in an allocated time.

    • Utilizing state-of-the-art techniques and test equipment, will perform all quality-control tests and performance monitoring of equipment, systems, and antenna to ensure that all equipment is operated at the required performance levels.

    • Assists the Lead, SATCOM in the preparation of all telecommunication reports.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

    • Must have a Secret clearance.

    • Must possess administrative, organizational, and computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

    • Ability to work quickly and in a potentially high-stress environment.

    • Must have good oral and written communication skills which enable to effectively liaise with clients, other departments within the organization, subcontractors, and clients, and report directly to the Senior Management.

    • Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING

    • Within the last four (4) years, two (2) years of specialized experience directly related to Satellite Communications Facility operations.

    • Within the last three (3) years, two (2) years specialized experience in the theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory and of characteristics, functions, diagnosing, isolating and correcting malfunctions, and performing organizational level maintenance on communications and electronic equipment including, but not limited to: AN/GSC 52B; M/20 JUNIPER; RT2200; AN/WSC-3; DAMA; KIV-7M, KWR-4, and associated CRYPTO equipment; Fiber Optic Equipment, or two (2) years specialized experience in operation and maintenance of the above equipment at a military or commercial communications center.

    • SECURITY CLEARANCE: Secret based on SSBI

    EDUCATION

    • High school graduate or successful completion of a two (2) year resident course at a technical institute specializing in electronic communications technology or the equivalent military training.

    • Specialized electronic experience of more than three (3) years may be substituted for educational requirements.
