Job Title: Designer / Sr Designer

Location: Columbus OH or Tulsa OK

Work Schedule: Hybrid (Monday-Wednesday in office)

Contract Details: 12mo contract to hire

Pay Rate : $28-32hr

We are looking for two Designer/Senior Designer candidates to join our team. This role involves performing daily work activities with general supervision, including computer-aided drafting to prepare maps, sketches, schematics, and other engineering-related drawings. The position also includes clerical work to manage and document work activities according to AEP requirements.

Essential Job Functions & Tasks:

• Create, revise, and maintain engineering and record drawings and sketches.

• Support the creation, revision, and maintenance of facilities and equipment documents, including construction, equipment, property documents, and records.

• Obtain information needed for tasks from verbal communication, sketches, marked drawings, listings, field notes, vendor catalogs, technical reference manuals, and site visits.

• Perform mathematical calculations required for assigned work.

• Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software.

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software.

Minimum Requirements:

Designer Level- $28hr

• Education: Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting and computer-aided design (CAD) or in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology, with one to two years of relevant experience.

• Experience: High school graduate with six years of experience in electric utility and/or related industrial drafting and/or computer-aided drafting work without an AAS degree.

Senior Designer Level - $32hr

• Education: Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting and computer-aided design (CAD) or in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology with four years of relevant experience.

• Experience: High school graduate with eight years of experience in electric utility and/or related industrial drafting and/or computer-aided drafting work without an AAS degree.

Additional Requirements:

• Familiarity with conventional drafting symbols and methods.

• Ability to distinguish colors.

• Ability to operate a motor vehicle with a valid state driver's license.

• Must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law.

• Hybrid position: Monday-Wednesday in office, Thursday-Friday remote.

• Occasional travel for site visits; safety toe boots required.

• Overtime may be possible when needed and approved, but not frequently expected.
