    Prepare, process, stain tissues and evaluate cytology specimens before examination by Pathologist. Maintain instruments and prepare solutions and stains. Maintain patient confidentiality of all reports and specimens.

    Responsibilities:

    • 1. Technical Duties
      • 1.1 Responsible for diagnosing and evaluating gynecological and non-gynecological specimens.
    • 2. Other duties
      • 2.1 Maintains accurate records of incoming and outgoing specimens and slides.
    • 3. Quality
      • 3.1 Investigates and documents problems with unacceptable specimens.
    • 4. Problem solving
      • 4.1 Follows established quidelines for troubleshooting instrument, reagent or specimen problems
    • 5. Regulation Compliance
      • 5.1 Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety
    • 6. People
      • 6.1 Participates in staff meetings, helps promote effective working relationships
    • 7. Customer Service
      • 7.1 Uses Patient/Family center values/Conducts all work activities with respect of the rights and wishes of patients, visitors and patients families

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATION

    Bachelor's degree in Cytology or equivalent required.

    EXPERIENCE

    Previous experience preferred.

    LICENSURE

    American Society of Clinical Pathologist certification (CT-ASCP) preferred

    SPECIAL SKILLS

    Clear written and verbal communication skills required. Diplomacy, tact, and a calm positive attitude required. Uses good judgment in performance of work. Great attention to detail required. Ability to sit, stand, or walk, and occasionally reach for prolonged periods of time.
