    MITRE's Naval C4I & Space Department is seeking a highly motivated candidate to serve as a Cyber Operations Engineer. MITRE's Naval C4I & Space Department delivers innovative engineering technologies, concepts, and methodologies and performs research and development designed to address our Naval sponsors' hardest challenges. We aim to provide the U.S. Navy and its Partners with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, & Intelligence (C4I) and Space capabilities to operate in all domains. We strive to be a recognized leader for C4I systems engineering and maritime security, a gateway for our sponsors to the whole of MITRE, and the Government's architect for the Information Age. This position requires creative problem solving through novel applications of cyber operations and software principles in collaboration with diverse and geographically dispersed teams.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Provide guidance on ensuring systems are specified, designed, developed, implemented, integrated, and sustained to meet cybersecurity objectives.

    • Shape the prototyping, development, and acquisition of future cyber architecture and capabilities.

    • Analyze cyber contributions to multi-domain warfighting.

    • Coordinate with cyberspace experts across the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense.

    • Assist in systems security analysis and assessments, including identifying risk criticalities and handling options, to inform decision making.

    • Analyze systems requirements, software, hardware, supply chain, and integration approaches to identify vulnerabilities and system architecture, design, and implementation flaws.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related fields of study; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

    • Possess active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

    • Experience with Cyberspace defense operations, systems security engineering, security, and system architecture

    • Experience with Communication network vulnerabilities

    • Knowledge of cyber threat engineering, DoD Middle Tier Acquisition, Communications Security (COMSEC)

    • Exceptional written communication and presentation skills

    • Interpersonal skills effectively interact with project leaders, team members, and contractors.

    • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Possess an active Top Secret/SCI level security clearance

    • Experience with design and/or operation of Naval Weapons Systems

    • Understanding of the defensive cyber life cycle including customer and leadership engagement

    • Knowledge and understanding of Autonomous Systems, Directed Energy Weapon Systems, Naval Operational Architecture (NOA) and Distributed Maritime Operational (DMO) concepts, Force Protection (FORCEPRO), Operations Security (OPSEC) and the provisioning of operations which would include defending in Denied, Disrupted, Intermittent, and Limited (D-DIL) bandwidth environments

    $118,000 - $147,500 - $177,000 Annual
