    This position provides direct supervision of individuals who are incarcerated and working mainly with the manufacturing of thermoforming, chemicals, and some assembly of sub-contract materials. .

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Hire, train, and supervise individuals who are incarcerated in the various processes and procedures in the product fabrication and manufacturing areas, so that security and efficiency are maintained.

    • Perform all necessary layout and design work and machine set-ups for all production machinery in the various product manufacturing and assembly sections so that products are manufactured efficiently and meet all quality standards.

    • Manage the workflow so that a smooth, efficient, and quality production flow can be maintained.

    • Call or meet with and provide customer relations and technical assistance to customers.

    • Maintain security of tools, equipment, and personnel.

    • Maintain overall quality control in the product shop, so that all products meet the appropriate specifications as required by customer.

    • Maintain inventory control and equipment maintenance so that supplies and equipment are available in the shop and that preventative maintenance is performed as specified by appropriate time frames.

    • Complete appropriate administrative and routine reports so that an adequate record of activities is maintained.

    This position has direct contact with individuals who are incarcerated.

    Minimum Qualifications

    To be qualified for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below.     • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, production, or assembly setting.

    • Experience in cost and project estimating to develop pricing, negotiate discounts and contracts, and resolve claims.

    • Knowledge of manufacturing sufficient to demonstrate understanding of processes and equipment.

    • Ability to prioritize and schedule work to ensure product is ready at time promised.

    • Basic personal computing skills, including e-mail software and word processing skills sufficient to communicate with supervisors, customers, and vendors and to main records and complete reports.

    • Interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively coordinate work with other departments and agencies.

    • Customer service skills sufficient to effectively and diplomatically deal with customer complaints and inquiries and to ensure customer satisfaction

    Physical Requirements

    The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components may consist of a tuberculosis screening, commercial drivers license (CDL) drug test, and/or respirator clearance.     The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

    Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
