    Job Summary and Qualifications

    • Analyzes productivity of the department searching to provide a high quality product while seeking opportunities to proactively advance the department’s mission and vision.
    • Develops, recommends and implements policies and procedures for the department in conformance with regulatory standards. 
    • Ensures adherence to proper sterilization procedures and aseptic technique. Conducts routine quality assurance activities. 
    • Supervises and schedules personnel and provides training and development opportunities for personnel. 
    • Assists in the development of departmental operating and capital budgets, expends funds as authorized and monitors and controls expenses. 
    • Serves on hospital committees related to Sterile Processing. 
    • Responsible for the preparation of monthly reports related to the activities of the department. 
    • Receives, cleans, processes, assembles and distribute medical supplies, equipment and surgical instruments 
    • Prepares, assembles and packages all medical equipment and instruments for surgery and other hospital departments 
    • Sterilizes all reusable equipment, supplies and instrumentation Maintains and operates Central Sterile equipment 
    • Handles, transports and stores sterile equipment, instruments and supplies 
    • Demonstrates department specific skills and competencies, including high-risk, low-volume and problem-prone competencies 
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

    Experience:

    Minimum one to two years’ experience as a Central Sterile Technician; demonstrated leadership experience

    Education: 

    • Highschool Diploma or GED
    • Successful completion of Central Sterile Supply Certification Program 
    • Central Sterile Supply Certification: -Examples: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (IAHCSMM); Certified and Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
