Controls Engineer

Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description

• Understand and become the SME for all Plant PLC languages or Control Systems. - Analyze plant processes, design and implement improvements. - Troubleshoot issues with hardware and processes. - Plan preventative maintenance. - Work with others to detect problems and implement solutions. - Maintain quality and safety standards are upheld. - Design control systems to regulate the behavior of dynamic systems, analyzing system requirements, developing mathematical models, and designing control algorithms to achieve desired performance objectives. - Implement control algorithms in software or hardware components, such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) or microcontrollers. - Conduct testing and simulations to validate the performance of control systems, fine-tuning controller parameters to optimize system response and ensure stability and robustness. - Continuously monitor the behavior of controlled processes, using feedback from sensors and other data sources, assessing system performance, and making adjustments to maintain optimal operation. - Diagnose problems and implement corrective actions to restore normal operation. - Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate control systems into larger systems and processes, ensuring seamless communication and coordination between different components of the overall system. - Prioritize safety considerations in designs and implementations, ensuring that control systems meet regulatory standards and safety requirements. - Maintain detailed documentation of control system designs, configurations, and changes for reference and future troubleshooting. - Upgrade control systems and incorporate new features or enhancements to improve system performance as technology evolves or new technology is identified. - Take on project management responsibilities, coordinating control system integration, testing, and commissioning in larger engineering projects.
