Description

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to join our team in the Commercial Real Estate sector. This role is integral to managing our financial and accounting functions while driving efficiency and compliance across the organization.

Responsibilities

Financial Management

• Oversee cash flow management and develop optimal cash strategies across multiple entities and bank accounts.

• Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness for month-end reconciliations and year-end financial closings.

Banking and Regulatory Compliance

• Manage banking operations, including account management, and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions.

• Administer property taxes and insurance, ensuring timely payments and regulatory adherence.

Team Leadership

• Supervise and mentor the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to optimize efficiency and maintain high performance.

• Foster a collaborative, results-driven environment within the accounting team.

• Delegate tasks effectively, ensure accountability, and meet deadlines consistently.

Operational Excellence

• Develop and implement workflows to manage multiple entities efficiently.

• Establish and maintain organizational systems to streamline complex financial activities.

• Identify and execute opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies.

Strategic Alignment

• Collaborate with senior management to align financial operations with organizational goals and drive long-term success.

Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the commercial real estate industry

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management

• Demonstrated experience in conducting audits and implementing corrective actions

• Strong understanding of budgeting processes and financial forecasting

• Proven ability to oversee month-end close processes

• Extensive knowledge of controllership functions and best practices

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial modeling

• Experience with Yardi Property Management software is a plus

• Proven ability in managing cash flow and implementing effective financial strategies

• Experience with monthly reconciliation and ensuring financial accuracy

• Knowledge of property accounting principles and regulations

• Understanding of commercial real estate market and financial considerations

• Experience in managing finances for multiple entities simultaneously.
