Controller

Description

We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Controller in Los Angeles, California. This role is within the non-profit industry and involves managing accounting systems and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing grant accounting, government grants, foundation grants, and grant management. They will also have the responsibility of auditing compliance and handling month-end closure tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the grant accounting process, including government and foundation grants

• Implement effective grant management strategies and processes

• Ensure audit compliance and maintain accurate records of all audits

• Handle the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date

• Utilize Sage Intacct for various accounting and financial management tasks

• Monitor and manage the financial health of the organization

• Prepare financial reports and present them to senior management

• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures as necessary.

Requirements - Must have a strong understanding of Grant Accounting

• Proficiency in Government Grants and Foundation Grants

• Solid experience in Grant Management required

• Familiarity with Audit Compliance procedures is needed

• Ability to handle Month End Close processes

• Proficiency in using Sage Intacct software

• Should have strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Must have excellent organizational and time management skills

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is required

• Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or similar is preferred

• Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to multitask

• Strong knowledge and understanding of financial regulations and legislation

• Proven experience in a similar role as a Controller is preferred.
