    Delaware Basin Overview

    Spanning west Texas through southeast New Mexico, ConocoPhillips holds approximately 694,000 total net acres in the Delaware Basin, which includes approximately 654,000 unconventional net acres. The company began exploring and appraising the basin's stacked pay potential in 2012 and has gained extensive technical expertise to optimize development. At the beginning of 2024, the company operated over 2,800 producing wells throughout the Basin.

    In 2023, the company operated 10 drilling rigs on average and brought 148 operated wells online. Net production in 2023 averaged 537 MBOED.

    Description

    If you are selected as the Compressor Technician, you will work with the Gas Lift Foreman for Delaware Basin East & West and be a meaningful member of the team. You will assist all new compressor site construction, installation, startup, and performance as part of a team prioritizing safety more than anything else.

    This position will be in Carlsbad, NM. Preference will be given to individuals who live within an hour's commute of the work area.

    This is a Safety Sensitive position.

    Your responsibilities may include

    • Assuring safe and environmentally compliant operations of all company owned or rental compressors

    • Training to support that all shutdowns and safety devices are in place and functional

    • Supporting the preparation, installation, and startup of new company owned or rental compressors

    • Supporting and overseeing all new compressor site construction, layout, and piping needs

    • Training to support all sites meet or exceed environmental laws, rules, and regulations

    • Monitoring and optimize existing units

    • Recognizing opportunities for increased efficiency and recommending units for replacement or alternate lift and work with operations engineer to manage changes

    • Assist Compression Leads, setting up tracking tools to analyze and document all compressor related performance metrics such as runtime, mechanical availability, fuel consumption, throughput, and environmental compliance

    • Assisting pumpers and production supervisors with compressor related issues

    • Serving as field "point of contact" for compressor vendor

    • Documenting all incidents or abnormal operations to supervisor

    • Coordinating with Foreman to specify operating conditions and evaluate vendor proposals for new installations

    • Perform quarterly inspections on new company owned or rental compression

    • Assist production supervisor on setting up operators with alarms working with the compression vendors

    • Complete daily reports as specified on area assigned and turn into Gas Lift/Compression Foreman

    • Individual will be under the supervision of the Gas Lift/Compression Foreman

    Basic/Required:

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

    • Current/Valid Driver's License

    • 5 or more years of experience in a mechanical or maintenance position

    • 5 or more years of experience in compressor operations and maintenance

    Preferred

    • 1 or more years of experience in the upstream energy industry

    • 1or more years of experience working in a fast-paced organization requiring multitasking

    • Intermediate knowledge of compressor operation, maintenance, and repair

    • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right

    • Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals

    • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
