  • The primary function of the COBRA/Direct Bill Supervisor is to facilitate accurate and efficient enrollment of members into our group's plans by managing staff, workload and communication needed for the team to be successful. The COBRA/Direct Bill Supervisor is directly accountable to the Director of Service Operations or their assignee(s). The COBRA/Direct Bill Supervisor will undergo an annual performance evaluation.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support the Team with any necessary reviews and assist in the processing of complex incoming correspondence, member responses and other such items.
    • Oversee and provide education to the team regarding COBRA laws, compliance, protection of PHI and HIPAA to ensure the team and company stay compliant.
    • Respond to internal and external escalated incoming contacts accordingly.
    • Monitor team productivity and Key Performance Indicators and work with Director to determine appropriate staffing needs.
    • Oversee successful training of new team members, and the ongoing training of staff.
    • Monitor and facilitate opportunities to improve overall processes and function of the team including the writing of processes and procedures and implementation of changes.
    • Manage and assign daily tasks and special projects as appropriate.
    • Write and Review Performance related documentation, with the assistance of your Director, Annual reviews, Performance Improvement Plans, Warnings, etc. with staff.
    • Work with software vendor to assure system is operating as expected, and toward resolving any process impacts.
    • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a COBRA Representative or higher and meeting all production and quality expectations as well as having completed all required training.
    • Able to prioritize responsibilities to assure timeliness in completion.
    • Able to oversee team responsibilities to assure best overall outcomes.
    • Able to review documentation and determine results based on COBRA laws and guidelines.
    • Computer skills that allow for complete and professional responses and timely entry of data.
    • Able to communicate with staff in a clear and professional manner to assist in their growth.
    • Able to recognize process improvements and opportunities, and present those to leadership to help improve overall team function.
    • Be open and positively responsive to staff needs for training and/or assistance when approached.

    Production and Expectations:

    • Ensure team meets timelines for COBRA notification, rate updates, and other time sensitive processes and communicate to Director when timelines are not able to be met.
    • Actively lead educational and interactive team meetings, providing new and updated information, and assisting the team with questions and/or concerns.
    • Provide timely, clear, and professional communication to all clients, brokers, and internal contacts.
    • Support your team by being present during business hours and maintain a willingness to lead and assist.
