    The Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis is a 300-bed skilled nursing facility that provides multidisciplinary care to veterans. The Behavioral Health Services Department offers behavioral and mental health support to residents of the home. In addition to the clinical services offered to residents, members of the team may also provide training and education to facility staff as it pertains to supporting the behavioral and psychological care needs of our residents.

    We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team.

    Clinical responsibilities typically include

    • Providing individual and group therapy.

    • Gathering behavioral health-related background information for new admissions.

    • Treatment planning.

    • Conducting crisis intervention, including suicide risk assessment, as needed.

    • Assist with facilitation of external telepsychiatry services.

    • Develop and deliver psychoeducation curriculums for residents.

    • Develop and facilitate relevant training for staff.

    • Contribute to the interdisciplinary team and foster collaborative working relationships with others.

    • Coordinate with family members, as appropriate, to meet resident needs.

    • Complete necessary clinical documentation.

    • Perform other tasks and duties, as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Current Minnesota licensure as a Mental Health Professional (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Psychologist (LP), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)) as defined by Minnesota Statute 245.462 subd. 18, clause 1-6.

    • Three (3) years' experience post-master's degree or higher providing mental health clinical services.

    Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following

    • Knowledge of professional, legal, and ethical standards; best practices; and community standards of care.

    • Skills in verbal and written communication, including proficient documentation and computer skills with experience in using an Electronic Healthcare Record.

    • Ability to formulate and implement an individualized treatment plan; provide mental health treatment; and develop a collaborative behavior care plan independently.

    • Ability to teach mental health content to a variety of professionals; effectively function within a multidisciplinary team; exercise sound judgement; demonstrate appropriate professional boundaries; and have leadership and clinical supervision experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of the special clinical care needs of the Veterans community such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Polytrauma, or other Mental Health needs such as Suicide Prevention, Substance abuse, or End of Life Needs specifically related to a service era.

    • Experience working with geriatric individuals whose disease state affects their ability to live at home alone and need additional services or assisted living or nursing home care and the focus is on a resident centered care approach.

    • Experience working with clients diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI)

    • Experience with program development demonstrating collaboration and building networks of support for Behavioral Health within existing health systems including working with nursing, social work, providers, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals.

    • Ability to use the full range of diagnostics in the current DSM (i.e., Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) sufficient to develop appropriate evaluations and treatment plans for residents including crisis intervention techniques to address the needs of the resident population and serve as an expert resource for other healthcare professionals.
