We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Health Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences to be a lead mental health provider in the Ryan White HIV Program. The University of Virginia Ryan White HIV Program is a federally and state funded program designed to provide comprehensive care and support services for individuals with HIV/AIDS. The program provides whole-person care for approximately 1000 people with HIV. With Ryan White support, the University of Virginia has been able to offer psychologic and psychiatric care embedded into the HIV clinic. As a Clinical Health Psychologist within the Ryan White program, the faculty member will play a vital role in providing psychological and behavioral care for people with HIV, and enhancing the overall well-being and quality of life for people with HIV.
Responsibilities:
Psychological Assessment and Treatment: The primary focus of this position is clinical care (8 four-hour sessions per week). Faculty will conduct comprehensive psychological assessments of people with HIV to identify psychosocial factors impacting their health and well-being and provide evidence-based individual psychotherapy.
Behavioral Health Integration: Faculty will collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to integrate behavioral health services into the medical care setting, ensuring comprehensive and whole-person care for people with HIV.
Education: Opportunities for teaching include didactics and supervision with Infectious Diseases residents and fellows. Opportunities for supervising Clinical Health Psychology post-doctoral fellows in the Ryan White Clinic may also be available.
Program Development: Faculty will partner with Ryan White clinic leadership to (1) develop and implement new programs and initiatives aimed at improving the psychological well-being and overall health outcomes of Ryan White Clinic populations and (2) assist with grant writing, programmatic evaluation and reporting, and dissemination of best practices.

Candidates must have a PhD/PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program. Postdoctoral experience in Health Psychology is strongly preferred. Preference will be given to those with experience providing empirically-based psychological interventions with medical populations, consulting with medical staff, and performing medically-specialized psychological evaluations. Candidates must be license-eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia and must be licensed by date of hire. Candidates must also be board certified or eligible for board certification from the American Board of Professional Psychology. Board certification is a requirement for clinical privileges within UVA Health, and individuals are expected to obtain board certification after hire, typically within 3 years.
