    Overview of Position:

    This position is responsible for implementing education programs for Genesis HealthCare System's Nursery, Lactation and Pediatric Department, as well as assist with other educational needs within the Women and Children's Service line as determined by Director. The educator coordinates the implementation of programs utilizing sound adult learning principles. In addition, the clinical educator is responsible for development and implementation of mandatory education programs in accordance with OSHA, AHA and HFAP.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES
    1. Coordinates new employee orientation. Collaborates with Education Services and Residency Program leadership to provides hands on instruction and develop classroom instruction. Works to match new hires with most compatible mentors. Supports new hires and mentors throughout the orientation process, evaluates progress, and reports concerns to unit leadership.
    2. Provides hands on instruction for specialized classes. Coordinates instruction and develops education on advances in evidence based practice, new technology, and medication.
    3. Oversees education record completion and schedules & tracks mandatory education and recertification.
    4. Serves as a clinical resource within the department and provides hands on instruction at the point of care.
    5. Provides updates regarding policy changes, EPIC issues and serves as a department super user.
    6. Serves as a department liaison for various programs and accreditation. Assists in survey preparation and participates in the survey process for ODH and HFAP.
    7. Collaborates with Education Services and local universities to establish clinical opportunities.
    8. Performs learning needs assessment for Med Surg departments.
    9. Coordinates and provides education for annual and ongoing competencies. Provides education and training on unit specific equipment and procedures.
    10. Researches literature for current practices. Plans, implements and evaluates educational offerings. Uses appropriate tools for evaluating effectiveness of programs.
    11. Documents continuing education programs using the ONA documentation forms.
    12. Develops curriculum based on written measurable objectives.
    13. Facilitates both large and group training sessions and maintains positive outlook regardless of content.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    1. BSN and current Ohio RN License.
    2. Hold current ACLS/CPR certification.
    3. Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, conflict resolution and investigative skills.
    4. Ability to apply adult learning principles to the classroom and other learning experiences.
    5. Demonstrated excellence with listening, verbal and written communication skills.
    6. Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing working environment.
    7. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of computer software, including programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
    8. Knowledge of audio-visual equipment (laptop, VPU, Overhead) and able to select equipment best suited for class.

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    1. Works in an office and or classroom environment.
    2. Ability to stand, walk sit, stoop and bend for extended periods of time.
    3. Ability to operate a computer for 2-3 hours at a time.
    4. Ability to drive to meetings and travel to various floors for speaking engagements and assist with education of employees.
    5. Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
    6. Vision abilities required include up close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
    7. May be required to periodically rotate shifts and regular days off. All system employees must be willing to work all shifts, extra hours, holidays and emergency shifts as required.
