    Description:

    Position Purpose:

    Assigns ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifiers to clinic patients ensuring optimal reimbursement and compliance. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

    What you will Do:

    Assigns ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes and modifiers

    Verifies procedures and/or diagnoses to ensure that all charges have been submitted.

    Participates in coding and billing activities.

    Assists providers with data management and record keeping.

    Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Completion of an accredited HIM Technology program, or AHIMA Independent Study Program in Coding preferred. Courses in coding and medical terminology preferred. RHIT-eligible, CCS, AHIMA Coding Certificate preferred. CPC preferred.

    No prior experience required with completion of HIM Technology program or with AHIMA independent study program. Minimum of 2-year medical clerical background preferred.

    Intermediate language, intermediate reasoning ability. Ability to assimilate facts, analyze and make sound decisions. Detail oriented. Personal computer and keyboarding.
