The Hartford is looking for a Chief Information Officer for its Global Specialty division. This role is accountable for technology strategy and delivery for The Hartford's $3B Global Specialty division.
The CIO, Global Specialty will partner with the business to drive superior outcomes and a world class customer experience through cutting edge technology, data and digital capabilities. This is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual who has experience translating and shaping business outcomes through technology and data as well as leading high-performing teams to enable and execute those strategies. The broader Technology organization is embarking on a modernization and simplification journey with Cloud at its center, augmented with digital, data, AI and analytics capabilities. Global Specialty has a robust agenda on The Hartford's technology simplification and modernization effort for the next three to five years.
This highly visible position interfaces with Global Specialty leadership team and will be responsible for a total managed budget of approximately $75M. The CIO will manage a staff of 90 technology employees and a team of global sourcing partners with the goal of scaling the internal team to manage large / complex projects and create a deeper bench of talent. The CIO, Global Specialty reports to The Hartford's Chief Information Officer, Property & Casualty.
Closely partner with the Global Specialty senior leadership team to support and drive the profitable growth of the business.
Develop and deliver an IT roadmap to support the business and IT strategy for the delivery of increased business capabilities, improved IT operational stability, reduced TCO for the application portfolio, and reduced time and cost of delivery. Develop the technology plan in support of key business objectives and with consideration of external trends and competitive advances, including innovation strategies- digital, robotics, artificial intelligence, etc.
Drive execution and management of the Global Specialty invest portfolio. Influence and implement change strategies that will transform end to end execution of IT invest projects to reduce cost, improve quality, leverage DevOps and mature Agile practices.
Provide single point of business contact for all IT needs to include delivery, maintenance, and production support.
Work in concert with the broader Tech, Data & Analytics organization to drive efficiencies and deliver innovative solutions that will distinguish The Hartford from its competitors. Effectively partner with other IT leaders and build relationships that enable shared solutions across the enterprise.
Provide technology vision and leadership and fosters culture of empowerment and accountability.
Attract, develop and retain a high performing IT staff.
15+ years in a leadership role including experience directing a team, setting priorities and plans to meet business goals and objectives.
3+ years of line of business CIO experience for a financial services company; Specialty P&C insurance experience is attractive.
Must have managed large IT team and experience working with and building teams within an Agile environment.
Experience setting technology direction with proven track record delivering large scale IT solutions within a complex and highly matrixed environment.
Technical knowledge and aptitude in engineering and technology delivery.
Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Strong business acumen.
Able to influence diverse teams and building strong business relationships.
Pro-active; Self-starter. Able to balance multiple demands from multiple customers.
Solid planning and organization skills. Establishes priorities, anticipates problems, determines completion dates, manages time effectively; uses the services of others effectively.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree required.
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office (Hartford, CT; Danbury, CT; Charlotte, NC; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; or Columbus, OH) three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$244,640 - $366,960
