Job Description

The Carpenter will be responsible for finishing carpentry of a large concrete steel stud job. Responsibilities include cocking, backing and blocking, building medicine cabinets, using power tools, and heavy lifting on a construction site. Experience with Zoom Booms is an asset. We are open to candidates starting on a contract basis and potentially transitioning to full-time.

Project

Building a Multi-Unit residential building in the SW. The project duration is about 8 months, with potential for good candidates to either see the project through or be moved to other projects. Additional sites include another larger project in the SW and a smaller project in Chestermere. Working alongside 10-15 employees, reporting to the site superintendent, and completing daily assigned tasks. Majority of work involves cutting and installing backing in studs, site clean-up, material moving, working off ladders, building cabinets, and installing door frames and hardware.

Hard Skills

• 5+ years Carpentry Experience (ticketed or Red Seal considered an asset)

• Experience with Framing, Blocking, Backing, and heating/hoarding (wood frame and steel stud buildings)

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints

• Experience with Skill saw, table saw, chop saw, & power drills (5+ years)

• WHIMIS ticket

• Hand tools (tool belt, tape measure, hammer, nail bar, retractable knife, pencil, hand drill)

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 5 Month(s) before transferring over to permanence.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Calgary, Alberta.
