Carpenter Apprentice

Currently hiring: 2 year or higher Carpenters

this is for an indoor manufacturing wood shop in the Fraser Valley!

Description:

These individuals will need to fabricate all components of a timber structure - from mass timber products such as glue-laminated (glulam) beams, laminated veneer lumber (LVL), nail-laminated timber (NLT), and dowel-laminated timber (DLT) to steel connectors, cables, and castings, to integrated structural panels complete with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems pre-installed in the shop.

Primary Duties:

• Reading blue prints for beam layout

• Steel fitting

• Sanding

• Precision finishing

• Operating power and air tools - hand drill, skill saw, sander

Other duties may include:

• Packaging glulams and panels

• Clean-up

• On-site help- prep, fly, land and stitch together roof panels

Qualifications:

• 2+ years carpentry experience

• 3rd or 4th year Apprentice or HIGHER

• Experience using tools (drill, skill saw, hammer, measuring tape)

• Steel Toe Work Boots

Pay Rate:

• 2nd year: $25

• 3rd year: $27

• 4th year: $28

• Red Seal: $30-$32

Dress Code:

• Long pants and shift

• Steel Toe Work Boots

• Tape Measure

• Hammer

• Hard Hat, Safety vest- if no hat, can borrow

Shift:

• Mon-Thurs 6am-4.30pm (Morning Shifts)

• Mon-Thurs 4:30pm - 3am (Afternoon Shifts)

Work Environment and Culture:

• They will be working on the "north side" of the shop where the more skilled work is executed on

• Working with hand and larger sanders

• Using specialty carpentry tools (training will be provided on any tools candidate doesn't know how to use)

• GO-GO-GO - they have lots of projects on the go so there's no standing around with hands in pockets

• OT available

• Must have good communication skills

• Candidates will be working mostly indoor in a wood production facility.

• Less than 10% of work will be in the yard - gathering materials or packaging

• This is an open production floor, bay doors are open and proper ventilation is in place

• There are about 50 employees on site.
