    We are currently seeking a

    Cargo Coordinator

    to join our Export Department in Richmond.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    As a Cargo Coordinator, you will coordinate the loading of pulp, lumber, and domestic/export shipments for IntermodeX, ensuring all documentation and cargo deadlines are met. This role supports Logistics Coordinators and Operations Supervisors as needed to enhance customer service and cost efficiency.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Export Operations (85%)

    • Plan weekly loading schedules for customer orders in collaboration with Operations Supervisors. 

    • Coordinate trucking schedules and reservation times with trucking companies.

    • Support the Logistics Team and Operations Supervisors in optimizing

      labour

      and loading efficiencies.

    • Liaise with steamship lines for equipment releases to promote maximum use of the Terminal.

    • Communication with steamship lines to ensure effective use of terminal equipment.

    • Request extensions for documentation or cargo cut-offs when necessary.

    • Work closely with export planners, CSR Teams, and Operations Supervisors to address loading challenges and ensure customers are updated promptly.

    • Collaborate with the Logistics departments to ensure all customer requirements. 

    • Liaise with the Container Yard to manage equipment releases, availability, space allocation and truck turn times. 

     Administration (10%)

    • Resolve invoicing discrepancies on drayage or reservation fees with the Office Administrator. 

    • Develop and implement contingency plans for supply chain disruptions. 

    • Contribute to

      corrective actions and recommendations to enhance operational efficiency. 

    • Assist in creating and executing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for continuous improvement. 

    WHAT YOU BRING

    Knowledge

    • Post-secondary education in transportation, logistics, international trade, or a related field. 

    • At least 2 years of dispatching experience (container trucking would is an asset).

    • Understanding of terminal reservation systems and the container shipping industry. 

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word).

    • Strong command of English.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Regular presence is required at the Terminal, with 8-hour shifts involving standing and sitting.

    • Exposure to outdoor elements (heat, cold, rain, noise) and heavy equipment operations.

    • High mental demand requiring attention to detail throughout the workday.
