We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our Cardiology department. The ideal candidate will have a passion for veterinary medicine, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role involves supporting our cardiologists and veterinary technicians in providing exceptional care to our patients.
Patient Care:
Assist in the preparation and management of cardiology patients.
Monitor and record vital signs during procedures and treatments.
Provide pre- and post-operative care and support to patients.
Diagnostic Support:
Assist with diagnostic imaging procedures, including echocardiograms and radiographs.
Prepare and maintain equipment and instruments for cardiology procedures.
Collect and process laboratory samples as needed.
Client Communication:
Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing clear instructions and updates on their pet's condition.
Educate clients on post-treatment care and medication administration.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
Schedule appointments and follow-up visits.
Manage inventory and order supplies for the cardiology department.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and other hospital staff to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care.
Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advancements in veterinary cardiology.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; veterinary assistant certification preferred.
Previous experience in a veterinary clinic, preferably in a specialty or referral hospital.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong understanding of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and humanely.
Proficiency in using veterinary practice management software and medical equipment.

Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of care.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
VCA Animal Hospitals offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, pet care discounts, paid vacation, holidays and sick days, health and well-being programs that provide resources and training. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The pay range for this position is $20 to $22/ hour.
